Today, BayPort joins over 56,000 credit unions around the world to celebrate International Credit Union Day. This day highlights the many ways credit unions across the world help members work towards achieving their financial goals.

BayPort was founded in 1928 and built on the principle of “people helping people.” We’ve seen that philosophy in action for 95 years, empowering our local communities through free financial education workshops, programs, and tools.

In 1928, 12 shipyard workers from Newport News Shipbuilding formed an organization with a specific purpose as a low-interest source of loans and a trusted place to deposit money.
